Let me say, conditions were at their worst, a cold front coming through which brought when gust in excess of 25 mph, rain, and of course the falling temperatures. Mr. Champion (Boater) and I (Non-Boater) practiced the day before the tournament because we are diehard anglers and the elements were not going to stop us from trying to figure out the Lake Guntersville Bass and put together a game plan for the Classic. To put it nicely, we through the kitchen sink (everything except the A-Rig, didn’t have one), junk fishing 101, and still did not have a comfortable pattern for the next day. However, we knew we were in some good areas because we could see the bass suspending in open water structure and various other structures near the bank and boat docks. At the end of the day, Mr. Champion and I both laugh and scratched our heads, the Guntersville Bass had won round one. We managed to land two keeper fish (15-inches or better) which were caught on a medium size clear glass colored Zara Spook and a ¼ ounce Natural Shad Pro Assassinator Spinner Bait (Silver Colorado and Gold Willow Blade combination, dipped in clear JJ’s Magic.
